Dr. Sarah Aref

Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist · Diplomate, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Sarah Aref is a board-certified pediatric dentist. She was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to the US shortly thereafter. Dr. Sarah grew up in Metro Detroit and went to Wayne State University for her undergraduate studies, completing her bachelor's in science and graduating Summa Cum Laude. During undergrad, she shadowed her own family dentist and realized her passion for dentistry. She loved how it combined art, science and medicine. She completed her dental studies close to home at Detroit Mercy School of Dental Medicine, then her residency at Case Western University/Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, OH, where she trained extensively in behavior management, advanced sedation techniques including general anesthesia, and treating children with special health and behavioral needs. She was honored to serve as chief resident in her second year.

Dr. Sarah holds memberships to the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Ohio Dental Association and the Toledo Dental Society, and is trained in advanced pediatric life support and basic life support.

Dr. Sarah strives to make sure each child is comfortable in the dental chair. She realizes that for many children this is a very different and strange environment, and sometimes that can be overwhelming. She prides herself in being patient, compassionate and understanding, and always allows parents to come back with their child. Outside of pediatric dentistry, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Shereef, and her three kids. Together they enjoy travelling around the world and hope to someday visit all 7 continents!

Dr. Sara Droubi

Pediatric Dentist

Hi there! I'm Sara Droubi, and I am a pediatric dentist. I have been in the field of dentistry for 20 years! I started out as a dental assistant in high school. After seeing patients' smiles being transformed, I knew I wanted to be a part of this rewarding profession. I completed my undergraduate studies and dental training at the University of Detroit Mercy. I practiced general dentistry for a couple of years, then realized that I was most happy working with children, and completed my pediatric dental specialty training at the University of Toledo.

Outside of the office, I'm a busy mom of three active boys. We love riding our bikes, making arts & crafts, and performing science experiments. I look forward to meeting you!

Dr. Lauren Czerniak

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Lauren Czerniak, known as Dr. Lauren by her patients, has dedicated her career to caring for patients who need a little extra time and understanding. She spent fourteen years with the Dental Center of Northwest Ohio, including her time there while in dental school, where she saw a need for dentists willing to work with patients with physical and developmental disabilities. Her work with special needs patients was recognized by the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Dr. Lauren believes everyone deserves equal care, and she finds a way to reach every individual patient. She has cleaned teeth while sitting next to patients on the floor, sung songs to keep them comfortable, made toothbrush handles fatter so they're easier to grip, and even used x-ray shields as a weighted blanket to calm anxious patients.

“You don't go into dentistry for the money,” she says. “You go into dentistry because you care about the people.”

Dr. Rawan Sarsour

Board-Certified Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Rawan Sarsour is a board-certified pediatric dentist. She graduated from the Dental School at University of Jordan with her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (DDS) in 2012. Since the beginning of her training in dental school, she has enjoyed working with kids the most. She feels it's rewarding to make an anxious child feel better during their visit, and having them leave with a smile on their face has been and is still a priceless joy.

After dental school, Dr. Rawan continued her training with residency in Advanced Education of General Dentistry (AEGD) at the University of Connecticut, followed by pediatric dental residency and fellowship training there. She also obtained a Master of Dental Science degree from the University of Connecticut focused on management of children with cleft lip and palate. She was then appointed as a full-time Assistant Professor in the Pediatric Dentistry department at the University of Connecticut, and served as the Pediatric Dentist of the Craniofacial team at Connecticut Children's Hospital.

Dr. Rawan is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, and the College of Diplomates of Pediatric Dentistry. As a mother of two young children, she aims to treat every child she sees as if they were one of her own, and always strives to help all children and their parents have the best experience and make their appointment an enjoyable one.
